Joanna + Scott + Eliza + Lucia — At Gold Medal Park
I adore this family so much and it’s always a highlight to see them and to catch up while we’re running around + creating their family photos.
There’s a teeny tiny pocket of time in Minneapolis where the leaves are mindblowingly beautiful as they transform the landscape, the days are sunny and warm but there’s a cool breeze (and that midwest humidity finally gives us a break) and we haven’t been thrown into the depths of winter yet. This is the golden timeframe that every Minnesota family is trying to hit for their fall portrait session and that I’m constantly trying to remind you doesn’t truly matter because these photos are all about your family and not about the orange + yellow + red leaves.
Objectively, we missed that window for this session. Haha. It was straight-up cold (as it generally is for this poor family’s sessions! Eventually we’ll strike fall gold and find some warmth!) and the wind had done a serious number on all the leaves in town. There was one exception: this magical little pocket of trees at Gold Medal Park that were still showing off and were trying to turn me into a fool with my previous statement about how the leaves don’t matter.
I still think it’s all about your family and the connections you have together, but let’s be honest, these trees are amazing.
