Janet + Chris + Dylan at Wood Lake Nature Center

The first time I hung out with this family Dylan played ukulele for us all, so he instantly skyrocketed to the top of the favorite kiddo list. This was one of those beautiful fall nights in Minnesota that are pure gold, as you can see from the dreamy light that was surrounding us (helped out by the fact that I photographed this session on film, adding a little extra magic).

Wood Lake Nature Center is such a hidden treasure in the Twin Cities. When I don’t have time to go over to Fort Snelling State Park I frequently do a lap through Wood Lake at the end of a long day to unwind. There’s a surprising amount of wildlife in this little sanctuary in the middle of the city; I’ve seen everything from deer to beaver to coyote to every bird imaginable.
